Stadia announces six more Free with Pro games for October 2020 (all trailers)
Last month, I commented that Stadia seems to be falling into a pattern, with six new games being added to the Free with Pro program each month. Initially, it seemed as though each month would bring one or two new titles, but a precedent seems to have been set. And with new competition lurking on the horizon, Stadia needs to keep swinging for the fences to keep their fan base happy.
Luckily, this trend continued with the announcement of six more games being added to Free with Pro for October, including some highly acclaimed and anticipated titles.
Here are the trailers for everything announced:
Dead by Daylight - I'm listing this one first, as it is the first game on Stadia that features the highly anticipated Crowd Choice function, which allows players to participate in the game while it unfolds live on YouTube. Expect more on Crowd Choice once the game goes live (and I figure it out). Dead by Daylight will also feature cross-platform play (thank God!), so there should be plenty of games to jump into.
Celeste - Well, it seems like I'm going to finally get a chance to try Celeste. People seem to dig it quite a bit. The game has a doggone 93 on Metacritic. That's insanely high.
Jotun - This one has been out on Stadia for a while, but with beautiful hand-drawn graphic and fun Norse action/adventure gameplay, Jotun is a great addition to any collection.
Human Fall Flat - This is as good a reason to buy a second Stadia controller as any other. I played Human Fall Flat on PS4 with my son last year, and we had a great time flailing all over the place. This is one of those games where your character is difficult to control. Fun for a single player, but even better when are two of you flopping all over the place while you attempt to solve puzzle and progress. Fun, with a side of screw-your-buddy evil on the side.
Superhot: Mind Control Delete - Mind Control Delete is a grand add-on to the original title, adding a ton of content full of new twists on the beloved gameplay. This one was released as a free add-on for those that purchased the game a while back. Now the rest of us - that picked up the original game via Free with Pro - get the chance to experience this great expansion.
Lara Croft: Temple of Osiris - Four-player top down Tomb Raider. What else do you need to know? I'll take it!

Torchlight III coming out of early access on October 13
Torchlight II has been in early access for a few months, and today developer Perfect World announced that the game will be fully released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 13 (a Switch version will follow later this year).
All Steam players that have been adventuring in early access will be automatically upgraded to the full version, while new players can snag a copy for $39.99.
If you've never played a Torchlight game, you are in for a treat. Torchlight is light-hearted fun, and it seems that Perfect World went all out this time adding a ton of content and modes for players to engage with.
Check out some of these features (lifted from a recent press release):
-
Travel the Frontier: Players can explore the wilderness, party with friends, gather materials to craft loot, use magical maps to enter unknown dungeons, or show off their spoils in town! There’s always something to do in the new frontier.
-
Build & Upgrade Your Fort: It’s time to rebuild! Players will enjoy their very own account-based fort, where they can upgrade gear, and make renovations to show it off to their friends and the world. The game allows them to build monuments of power, pet stables, and more!
-
Choose a Relic: Relics are objects of great power that grant players a suite of active skills and passive skills. Players will choose one of five of these at the beginning of their journey and use skill points to unlock or enhance their relic’s abilities. The relic is an important part of a character's strategy - choose wisely!
-
Collect Epic Gear: Suit up in a robust variety of armor and weapons found across the frontier including charming hats, pet apparel, and unique locomotion options. Players can select from a wide array of weapons that suit their playstyle and class build. With over a hundred Legendary items, players can permanently acquire their special abilities in order to make themselves more unique and powerful.
-
Pets are Back: Players can fight their way to fame and glory with loyal companions! Each of the many species comes in a myriad of colors and styles so adventurers shouldn’t settle for the first one they find. They can make these trusty pets stronger by adding skills, equip them with gear to make them hardier, and together battle enemies as a team. Pets also have their own vast inventory for items, and players have the option to have their pets sell items directly in town.
-
Build Your Hero: With four classes to choose from, along with 20 class and Relic combinations -- each combination offering a unique playstyle -- and a wide range of choices of where to place skill points at, players can utilize class-specific mechanics to maximize damage and their odds of survival. Torchlight III lets them gather epic gear, select your Relic powers, and customize loadouts to create a unique combat style for their heroes.
Additionally, take a look at some of these hero classes. I guarantee you that there are no other games out there that allow you to play as a "Railmaster".

-
The Forged is a powerful robot who relies on an arsenal of weaponry to build up heat and unleash explosive assaults.

-
The Sharpshooter is a powerful and nimble ranged character who uses incredible skill with ranged weapons and magical trinkets to take on enemies from afar.

Skyforge is coming to the Nintendo Switch
It's been five years since the free-to-play MMORPG Skyforge launched on PC and roughly three since it's launch on the PS4 and Xbox One. The game received positive reviews and praise upon its initial release five years ago and now it's time to give Skyforge the ability to go portable with the ability to play either docked, in handheld or portable mode, with Joy-Cons and the Switch Pro Controller. Yakuza: Like a Dragon launches on PS5 next year
Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be a launch title for the Xbox Series X and S but PS5 owners will unfortunately have to wait a bit to get their hands on the game. Although if you have a PS4 that will be released on the same day as the next gen Xbox Version. Yeah, this is one of the weirdest release schedules ive seen for a game.
I going to assume that Microsoft worked out a deal for some kind of exclusivity but it's really weird that a series that has predominately been on the PS2,3 and 4 for its franchise is now coming out on Xbox first in terms of next gen.
So here are the release dates for all the versions...
The PS4, Xbox One, PC and Xbox Series X/S versions all release on November 10th 2020.
The PS5 version releases on March 2nd 2021
The other news is that those who own Like a Dragon on PS4 can upgrade to the PS5 version for free but your save data will NOT carry over.

Playstack announces delay of Mortal Shell physical edition
Due to unprecedented challenges in the global distribution environment, the release date for the Mortal Shell physical edition has been delayed, its publisher Playstack announced today.
Originally scheduled for a simultaneous global release on October 2, it will now ship across several dates in different territories.
On October 23, physical copies of Mortal Shell will be available on PS4 and PC in Europe. On October 30, physical copies will be available on Xbox One in Europe. On November 3, physical copies will be available on PS4 and Xbox One in the US.
“We sincerely apologize to our fans all over the world who have been eagerly waiting for the physical release,” said Playstack CEO, Harvey Elliott.
“Our number one priority is to get Mortal Shell in your hands as soon as possible, therefore we have decided to release each edition of the game the very moment it becomes available. That in turn means a slightly scattered release.”

Explore organized crime with a remake of the classic Mafia series
Even if you're not a crime-series junky, you have to admit, organized crime is fascinating. The Mafia operates under an entirely different set of rules than the laws that govern society. They wield a hidden, but powerful influence.
If you're like me and enjoy that sort of thing, you're in for a treat.
Today, 2K and Hangar 13 announced the launch of Mafia: Definitive Edition, a comprehensive, built-from-the-ground-up remake of the original Mafia. The remake, which includes an updated script, additional cutscenes, all-new gameplay sequences and features, a re-recorded orchestral score, and other enhancements, is now available worldwide on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store for $39.99. Check out the official launch trailer below.
Now that the remake of the original Mafia has launched, the trilogy is complete. Crime fans can buy Mafia: Trilogy for $59.99 to access each remake of the series.
- Mafia: Definitive Edition
- Mafia II: Definitive Edition
- Mafia III: Definitive Edition
2K also released the official launch trailer for the Mafia: Trilogy this morning.

Override 2: Super Mech League announces ULTRAMAN Deluxe Edition
Well, it is actually Modus Games announcing the ULTRAMAN Deluxe Edition for Override 2: Super Mech League, but that headline was getting fairly long. But yes, legendary Japanese superhero ULTRAMAN is coming to Override 2 - bringing along four characters from the recent Netflix ULTRAMAN anime. Included in this special edition of Override 2 are the following ULTRAMAN characters: "Shinjiro Hayata wearing the iconic ULTRAMAN Suit, the mysterious Bemular, Dan Moroboshi donning the ULTRAMAN Suit ver7, and the incredibly powerful alien Black King."
If you never played the original Override, you are definitely missing out on some serious, weird fun. The game revolves around giant monsters slugging it out in city-sized arenas - a perfect fit for ULTRAMAN to come swooping in from left field. Each character in the original game is very distinct, with its own move set and specials. The game is great fun, offering a unique type of brawling not seen in many games this generation. ULTRAMAN will fit right in there.
It is important to note that Override 2: Super Mech League will be available on next-gen consoles, so if you want to play the game there, make sure you order the correct version. Pre-orders are now available for $39.99 at retail ahead of a December 2020 launch on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch.
