Its difficult to believe that Fallout 76 has been around for over two years. During that time, the game has undergone one of those patented gaming redemption arcs. After getting absolutely hammered by critics and fans upon release for its many bugs and desolate atmosphere, Fallout 76 has long ago turned the page to become a much-loved and respected entry in the Fallout franchise. (Real talk - I always loved it).
Over the years, Fallout 76 has made steady progress, adding NPCs to the world and offering a ton of new content - and the improvements keep on coming. A new "Inventory Update", now available, will address several long-standing issues that have plagued players since the game's early days. The largest of these changes is the Stash increase, which allows players to horde 1200 lbs of stuff (up from 800, so a significant increase). Additionally, new tabs have been added to the Pipboy, allowing players to more easily track certain subcategories of loot:
New – This tab will keep track of all the items players gather during a play session, sorted by newest to oldest.
Armor – Armor receives its own menu tab so that players can keep their gear separate from their other Apparel.
Food/Drinks – Food and drinks are now split out from “Aid” into their own Pip-Boy Inventory tab. Chems and Serums will remain in “Aid.”
All of this, and some other useful upgrades, are spelled out in this handy trailer:
Fallout 76 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game goes on sale frequently, and has no subscription costs. At this point, it is well worth a look, even if you have been a longtime doubter.

Ova Magica, a blending of casual farming in the spirit of Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon blended with monster taming and battling like something out of Pokemon is now live on Kickstarter. It managed to get fully funded within the first 2-3 hours, which I'm really not surprised about. The early tech demo was promising and it has such a great idea.
Thankfully it's another that will support Linux too and the developer has been very clear about this. The Kickstarter campaign also lists it nice and clear as "The game will be released on PC DRM-Free, on Steam (Windows, Mac OS and Linux), Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S.".
Check out the trailer:
You can expect quite a few features from Ova Magica including farming, cooking, crafting, creature collection with you hatching blobs from eggs, romancing other characters, a an "active time" creature battle system, creature breeding, exploration and going on special expeditions and much more. It sounds like it's going to be quite a big game.
Their initial goal was €20,000 which has already been met easily. They do have some stretch-goals listed too, so when the funding hits different levels the will commit to more features including a marriage system, character customization and more to be revealed. Given the rate of funding, it will probably hit €40-50K quite easily I would think.
Check it out on Kickstarter and follow on Steam.
Cyber Shadow from Aarne "MekaSkull" Hunziker and Yacht Club Games is an epic throwback to the likes of Ninja Gaiden and Shadow Of The Ninja and it's out now with Linux support. Nice the see Yacht Club give a hand to another developer, after their success with the Shovel Knight series.
Here's the story and what's up:
"The world has been taken over by the evil Dr. Progen and his merciless synthetic army. A desperate plea for help sets Shadow, the sole survivor of his clan, on one last mission to uncover what started the path to perpetual ruin. Your robotic companion, L-Gion, is your only guide through the ruins of Mekacity. How far will Shadow go to protect his clan and the one he loves? Is there more to their bond than meets the eye? Only you can unlock the secrets to your clan's ancient powers. Hurry before you run out of time! The road to redemption awaits in Cyber Shadow, the quintessential Ninja Action game."
A game that very much demands you use a gamepad, so much so that the publisher Yacht Club detailed a list of what they suggest you try to use. For the PC/Linux version they mentioned the best to use are: Xbox 360 Controller, Xbox One Controller, PlayStation 4 Controller, PlayStation 3 (Dual Shock 3) Controller, 8Bitdo SN30 Pro Controller, Logitech F310 Gamepad - so presumably they've tested all those working nicely with it.
Feature Highlight:
You can buy it on Humble Store, GOG and Steam.
After spending a little too much time on fake ads for in-game enemies, Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood finally put out a gameplay trailer. This one focuses on the three forms you'll be switching between: Lupus (wolf), Homid (human), and Crinos (werewolf).
As a lupus, you'll lope around quietly, accessing nicely lit air conditioning ducts, and leaping around environments with the ease of a quadruped. As a homid, you'll snatch people from behind, yank wires, and headshot fools with your crossbow. As a werewolf, well, that's for when you absolutely, positively got to kill everybody in the room.
I can vouch that this short video largely shows you the entire gameplay loop. There's downtime to be sure. But when you're in a mission, your mostly going to be lurking through factories and laboratories with lots of guards pacing about, with you discerning their fields of view. Then you either keep the mission on the down low, or you go hot when you turn into a man-dog.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood launches on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 4. We'll have our full review up on launch day.

If you were to look at what a psychic medium does—someone who uses ESP to, well, perceive extra-sensory things—then The Medium makes a lot of sense. You've got two worlds. You've got a main character that traverses the two. There's something of an overworld (existing in 2084), and something of an underworld (existing when it's hell on earth, presumably).
This video for The Medium reveals nine "uncanny" facts about the game and its development. Bloober Team (Layers of Fear, >observer_) has carved out a nice place for itself in the video game horror genre. With concept art for The Medium first surfacing in 2012 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, The Medium has undergone a lot of changes, though the concept of two parallel worlds running in tandem was always there from the beginning. Troy Baker shows up as something with a disturbing voice called The Maw. It takes place in Poland, led by a couple Polish actors, exploring a real-world hotel in Poland, a hotel with that Eastern Bloc sensibility to its architecture. Which means the place is kinda blocky and kinda spooky, even in broad daylight. It also starts right off in a real-world apartment building in downtown Krakow (pronounced , Poland.
The Medium launches this week on January 28 on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC, and will be on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (including the PC side) on day one, too.

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is no slouch when it comes to tension and atmosphere. Placing players into chillingly realistic New Orleans neighborhoods, set in the comic book version of The Walking Dead's multiverse (I've just decided that it's a multiverse - fight me), Saints & Sinners tells an appropriately bleak Walking Dead tale in one of the most stunning big-budget VR games yet released.
One of the most successful VR games of 2020, Saints & Sinners has been a huge seller on just about every VR platform, most recently arriving on Oculus Quest - where it sold ten times more copies than on Rift and Rift S combined. Looks like I invested wisely in my recent Quest 2 purchase - Quest is the place to be.
Further reinforcing that perception is the fact that Quest fans will be seeing a new mode arriving on February 4, in the form of a free update entitled "The Trial". Basically a Horde Mode - in the most literal sense of the term - players will be pitted against wave after wave of the undead, with a break in between rounds to buy and craft new weapons and goodies to take into battle.
Take a look at teaser trailer here:
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is now available for $39.99 on the Oculus Store, Steam, and the PlayStation Store. For more details, check out the game's official website here.
Ever since I got my PlayStation 5 on launch day, I've noticed something funny with my Sony X900E television at the center of my entertainment system: it keeps having to reboot the Android software running the OS. There were a few times I had to navigate through the settings and manually reboot because certain functionality would disappear, such as the ability to select any input source other than the Android OS that powers the smart features. You know, the kinda minimum viability features that make a tv a tv. Mostly, though it just reboots on it's own just about every time I turn it on. Also, on quite a few occasions my console has been put to sleep at night and when I go to turn it on the next evening it's doing one of those sanity checks because it claims to have been abruptly shut down, even though it hadn't been. It was annoying from the start, and I finally took the time to fix it.
I've checked my setup, everything is good. I'm using the recommended HDMI 2.1 cables and everything is by the book. Apparently the problem is that the Sony PS5 and the Sony Bravia TV just don't seem to be on speaking terms. There is a feature in the PS5 settings that enables an HDMI device link that allows the two devices to communicate, but unfortunately what you would think would be well tested and developed communication between two devices from the same brands ends up in reboot loops for the television, shutdowns for the console, and frustration for the consumer, at least in my experience anyway.
The fix for me: simply dis-enable that Device Link. That's Sony's word for the Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) standard. You'll find it in the PS5 settings, go to System, then HDMI, then toggle the setting in the screenshot below. Since making that change, I've experienced no issues thus far, and honestly it seems a bit of a superfluous feature to me anyway. I've got four inputs going into my TV ant This idea that one remote should control everything is a bit silly when the interfaces and uses of all of the inputs differ drastically. Between game systems using proprietary controllers, Siri search on an AppleTV, and the native smart OS I use to make sure all my kids' programs don't cross pollinate with mine there is never a need to switch between devices on a single remote anyway.
So there you go, if you're noticing anything strange going on between your devices and your new next-gen console, might want to check the CEC settings with that Device Link toggle. If you're like me, you can set it and forget it. If you really need to share remotes between devices, then the best advice I can offer it to have a think as to why you have so duplicate inputs that are doing the same thing. I get it if you're swapping between a cable box and streaming services, up to the point that I'd question why you're still paying for cable to begin with, but that's a topic for another day...

Joseph Moorer, the man behind Games N Moorer, last night took a spin in his Super Orbital Recon Fighter to assist in the battle against the rebels in Redout: Space Assault. It turns out that there are some chumps that aren't down with the peaceful colonization of Mars, so Joseph drafted himself into...um...Space Force.
After running through the basic layout of the game and getting started, Joseph dies almost immediately by crashing into the interior of an asteroid. After inverting the Y-axis (because we are not savages), he fares a bit better.
Redout: Space Assault is a the evolution of the original franchise, which was until this point a racing IP along the lines of Wipeout. With the addition of combat, Redout: Space Assault now resembles something closer to a StarFox game, with the player being propelled steadily forward while gunning down baddies. No talking frogs, though. However, instead of flying face-first down an invisible tunnel, Redout: Space Assault gives the player a bit more agency, allowing them to swoop around a larger open area.
Take a look:
Redout: Space Assault was developed by 38BigThings, and is published by Saber Interactive. the game is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch for $9.99. Redout: Space Assault is currently on sale on Steam for 10% off, and players can also snag the Deluxe Edition, which comes with the award winning soundtrack.
